Quick answers for the host and the players. Tap a question to open it.
Do phones need an app?
No. Phones use a normal web browser. Nobody installs or downloads anything.
Do I need an account?
No. You type a name and pick an icon or a color. That's it.
Does everyone need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
No. The TV and the phones each connect to the game over the internet, so phones can use Wi-Fi or mobile data. Everyone does need a working internet connection.
How many people can play?
It depends on the game. FARP 3 to 12. Golf 1 to 8. Doodle 3 to 8. Hot Take 3 to 12. Tug 2 to 12. The game won't start with too few players, and it's full once it reaches the top number. The TV screen isn't a player and doesn't count.
The code isn't working.
The code is 4 letters, shown on the TV. Capitals don't matter. FARP doesn't say when a code is wrong, so if your name never shows up on the TV, check the letters first. The other four games say "Room not found." If the host ended the game, phones go back to the start screen and need the code again. A room left unused for 4 hours is cleared, so start a fresh one from HOST.
The page won't load.
Some networks and filters block new websites. Try turning off Wi-Fi and using mobile data, or the other way around. If the TV can't load it either, try a different network for the TV.
Someone dropped out. Can they get back in?
Yes. On the same phone and browser, they open Chismville again, enter the same 4-letter code and a name, and they're back. The game remembers that phone, so their score stays. For FARP, Chismville also shows a Rejoin link above the code box for 4 hours after you last joined from this browser. If they switch to a different phone or clear their browser data, the game sees a new player, and their old name is already taken, so they need a new name.
Does the game wait for someone who dropped out?
Not for long. FARP skips players who are disconnected. Golf gives a dropped phone 8 seconds for its turn instead of 45. Doodle, Hot Take and Tug carry on without players who are away. Doodle pauses if fewer than 3 are left, and ends after 90 seconds.
Can someone join after we've started?
In FARP, yes, if the room has fewer than 12 players. They get their cards from the next round. In Golf, Doodle, Hot Take and Tug, no. Anyone who was already in can come back after a refresh, but new people have to wait for the next game.
There's no sound on the TV.
The TV screen asks for one tap on Tap to start before it can play sound. Press it, and check the TV's volume. In Golf, Doodle, Hot Take and Tug, sound is also off until you turn it on with the toggle on the TV. In FARP, phones never make sound on purpose.
