Hold your phone like a club and swing. The ball flies across the TV. Nine holes, and the lowest total wins. One player can practice alone, and the room holds up to 8.
Getting started
- 1
Open the TV screen
One person opens the game on a TV or a computer hooked up to one and presses HOST. The TV shows a 4-letter room code and a QR code. Tap once on the TV to start it. Keep that page in front: the TV works out where the ball goes, and browsers slow down pages that are hidden.
- 2
Join on phones
Everyone else scans the QR code, or types the code on this site. Each player types a name (up to 12 characters) and picks a color. Names and colors can't be shared.
- 3
Start when you're ready
One player is enough, and the room holds up to 8. When the host starts, any phone that isn't connected at that moment is dropped. Nobody can join after the start.
- 4
Pick how to hit
The first screen on each phone asks how you want to hit. Tap Enable motion to swing the phone. On an iPhone, Safari asks for permission and you have to tap Allow. If motion is denied or not available, the game switches to flick and says why. You can also choose Use flick instead. The phone remembers your choice, and you can switch from the controller.
How a round works
- 1
One player at a time
The TV shows the hole, whose turn it is, and a countdown. On the first hole, players go in the order they joined. After that, whoever scored lowest on the last hole goes first.
- 2
Aim
Drag the dial on your phone. The arrow on the TV follows it. It starts out pointing at the flag. Aim by tilting is optional.
- 3
Swing or flick
In swing mode, hold Hold to swing, swing the phone, and let go. The power meter fills as you go. The shot also fires when the swing ends. In flick mode, swipe up the pad: a longer, faster swipe is more power. A very weak shot is refused and you try again.
- 4
Watch the ball
The TV rolls the ball. Walls and bumpers bounce it, sand slows it, and water costs a stroke. Some holes have a spinning windmill or sliding gates. When the ball stops, the next player goes.
- 5
Scorecard
When everyone has finished the hole, the TV shows a scorecard for 16 seconds, then starts the next hole. Tap on the TV to skip the wait. After hole 9, the TV shows the final standings with Play again and Back to lobby.
Rules
- There are 9 holes. The par for the whole course is 28.
- Every shot is one stroke. The lowest score compared to par wins. Ties share a place.
- Water adds one stroke and puts the ball back where you hit it from.
- A hole ends for you at 8 strokes. You pick up and the others keep playing.
- Balls don't hit each other, and everybody plays every shot.
- You get 45 seconds per turn. When time runs out you get one extra stroke and the turn passes.
- A phone that has dropped, or ran out of time twice in a row, gets 8 seconds instead.
- If the TV doesn't report where the ball stopped within 25 seconds, the game moves on.
- If a phone refreshes or reconnects, it goes back to its seat. If the TV page is refreshed, tap to start again and the game continues.
Host settings
- Sound
- Off by default. Turn it on with the toggle on the TV.
- End game
- On the TV. It takes two taps, so nobody ends it by accident.
- After the last hole
- Play again starts a fresh game with the same players. Back to lobby returns to the room code screen.
